1, 2, 3... YEP... THAT'S ME!!

I have been SOOO busy with work and other matters lately but...
I thought I had better update to let everybody know that...

I am the guest designer over at 1,2,3 Challenge this month. Yep. ME. Unbelievable!! :)

Here is my March Challenge criteria:

Colour: Light/Medium Blue
Word: To/Too/Two
Technique/Product/Theme/Idea: Doilies

Also... UNBELIEVABLE... I still can't believe I won a prize at Scrap Jacked a while ago... insane! Okay, I can believe it now cos I received my prize pack in the mail this week... so much yummy shabby stuff, right up my alley. Thanks ladies!

Definitely having a good scrapping time... except that I have ZERO time available to scrap at the moment! All very weird cos I'm used to being The Crap Scrapper who never wins anything. Ever. Unless it's luck of the draw. So I'm feeling very good about my scrapping right now.

I was in Brisbane last weekend, visitting family and attending Soundwave music festival as well. It was all about the family and friend catchups, though. It was an experience I will not forget in a hurry and there were many memories made that weekend both really good and bad.

Let's Get Shabby Challenge #20

Over at Let's Get Shabby it is all about WEDDINGS this month... YAY!

Seriously, what's more shabby than a WEDDING layout?!
ohh so much tulle and lace and flowers and white pretty ohhh *drools* way too much fun making this layout featuring a photo I snapped of my good friend Meg having a random cloud-watching moment on her wedding day.

Scrap Jacked

Firstly,
OMG!! Thankyou to the lovely women at Scrapjacked... I finally FINALLY scored a prize for my scrapping that was NOT a luck of the draw thing. I'm pretty sure that is the first time (and if not, any other time was so long ago that I do not remember it). This was for my "1st Noel" layout featuring my puppy Cruiser's first Christmas.

YAY... go me!!

Can't wait to receive my yummy websters/prima pack in the mail... it looks scrumptious... YAY!

This month I stepped out of my scrappy comfort zone and used some bright colours for the Scrap Jacked challenge. I lifted Mel's bright layout and used a blue & red colour combo as well as some rhinestones just like she did in her pretty "My Angel" layout. Im not real sure about this one but am sharing it anyway. Thanks for the inspiration, Mel!

It's as easy as 1, 2, 3...

Here is my entry for this month's 1, 2, 3 Challenge:

The criteria is:

1. Colour: Cream

2. Word: About

3. Technique: Upcycling

Clearly, my upcycled items are the doilies.

Don't even get me started on doilies... I bought stackloads off Ebay not so long ago... STACKLOADS... I've put aside a big pile of ones I absolutely adore and have been trying to sell the rest on as there's no way I can possibly use them all! So many doilies... my husband thinks it is hilarious that I love something as "nanna" as doilies.

White With 1 - February

Here is my entry for White With 1:

This month it is all about using white with brown and a vintage item.

I had a bit of trouble this month (obviously... it's so not my best layout!) but figured the brown went well with this particular photo of my friends Karina & Dale's one year old bull terrier puppy. He is such a cutie and I have to always remind myself of which breed he is so I don't accidentally offend them. He's a BULL TERRIER (friendly, lively, happy dog) *not* a pitbull (the ones that are restricted and, often, dangerous). Chester also happens to be Cruiser's best mate (apart from his cousin-pup, Thunda) and they have had a few puppy playdates together which is always a great excuse for Karina & I to catch up. They go to the same puppy school, however Chester has been there forever and is nearly finished year 3 while our boy Cruiser has only just finished year 1.

Secret

I have a secret!
I'll give you some clues... nah... I won't. Only because I'm terrible with clues and end up giving the game away. You'll just have to wait and see. All will be revealed in about 4 weeks' time.

PROPER UPDATE...

Better late than never... that's the December 123 Challenge.

It's been a long time coming. Here is the first proper blog update in a while. The Christmas Season was busier than I'd expected and time ran away from me a bit... ok. I also apologise for the last few days where I've uploaded one layout at a time for challenge blogs.

Alright, I can't believe I hadn't uploaded this one already. I completed this layout MONTHS ago and it has been on display in my scraproom ever since. It's Kat, Jess & I at Jason's 21st all the way back in September.

ANYway... the pic below is from my "She's got some little cousins" album which I did the cover for ohhh ABOUT A YEAR AGO and then never got around to filling in the pages so I've started doing up this album, finally, with pics of my baby cousins. I'm quite enjoying using the Echo Park papers. They're not my ususal scene but they're a lot of fun and very appropriate for the kids.
It's not finished yet... I've only done about 6 pages in it so far.
Ohhh and I've also given up on my broken old home computer and now only use my laptop... and Ben's PC if i need to print something. What does this mean for my scrapping? Well... it means that the old PC is no longer in my scraproom/study... so it's now a just plain CRAFT ROOM... booyeah.... inspiration central (and far too much pink, apparently!)
Here are some pics of my space...

123 Challenge: Beautiful/Purple/Punches

I'm on a major challenge roll... I did this one last night for this month's 123 challenge.

The criteria is:
Colour: PURPLE
Word: BEAUTIFUL
Technique/Product: PUNCHES

White With 1: Royal/Navy Blue

So... while on a challenge blog roll, I decided to do the White With 1 Challenge for the month. I discovered I do not have much royal/navy blue in my stash so I kinda just made do with what I could find.

Aussie Scrap Jacked

After hearing about it on Scrap Therapy, I decided to check out Aussie Scrap Jacked and was happy to see so many of my online mates from ST as DT members over there and then saw all the wonderful work they've created as inspiration for this month's challenge and I couldn't resist jumping on the bandwagon. This month, I chose to "lift" Mandy's layout. Now, Miss Mandy and I go way back... she is responsible for pushing me and encouraging me to try shabby chic (which is now my preferred style of scrapping) and also for giving us the idea to have Ben meet me halfway down the aisle at our wedding (thus solving the dilemma of not having anyone to walk me down). It is fitting, then, that the very first layout I have lifted from Scrap Jacked is that of Miss Mandy!

I was inspired by her use of red & green (two colours that i have trouble scrapping with... together and separately!) and shabby chic style. I also used several photos on my layout (which I usually avoid doing) just like she did. Here is Mandy's Layout and here is my lift...
I used Basic Grey & October Afternoon Papers, Prima journaling sticker & flowers. Cannot remember what brand the flower-lace is but I bought it from Scrap Therapy. I also used A.C thickers. This layout, of course, is of our darling puppy Cruiser and his total disgust at having to wear a Santa hat for photos of him celebrating his first Christmas.

Just a few layouts...

WOWEE... I've been scrapping, really I have....
I just haven't had much time... and I certainly haven't uploaded many layouts in um... errr... about 5 months. ANYway... this first layout here, Best of Friends, is for the Lets Get Shabby challenge this month. The rest are just fun & games :)

Thanks for looking :)

2.5 Months Worth of Pics... EEK!

Firstly... tea party pics!
This was just the other weekend...

It was my Girls Night In fundraiser for womens cancers. We raised about $175 which is not bad considering all we did was stuff our faces with sweet treats all arvo :)

We remembered why we were gathered and made a tribute (flower page) to those we know who are/were fighting womens cancers.

Ohh and Jase & Sinead came up from TVL for that weekend so that she could come to the tea party and in that time they left their little piggin' pup THUNDA here overnight to play with our big boy Cruiser. The two became best mates instantly and poor Cruiser cried like a little girl on the Sunday when they came around to pick Thunda up and take him home. :(

Oh yes, and Carter's 8th birthday was just the other day so we went up to see the in-laws.

Behana Gorge yesterday:

Gahhh about a month ago my friend (and former employer!) Meg got married at the botannical gardens... here are some pics from her big day. Love her dress! :)

The Redlynch OSHC girls reunited :)

Ben & I

CRUISER'S GETTING SO BIG! He's not normally allowed inside but we were giving it a go for a few days... it didn't last long!

Caught up with Nicole & Rachel at my work-school's fete. They both have baby girls born within about 2 months of eachother. We all went to school and uni together.

Yikes, it's been over 2 months since I've updated my blog with photos. They're all out of order and all over the place cos blogger's being mean to me today and I am in a rush so sorry for the disorganisation.

Hopefully I will update with some scrapping over the coming days/weeks/months (LOL so busy with work at the moment, scored a day off today somehow!) but for now... photos!!

So... way back in September, my cousin Kat came up from TVL for a few days and in that time we went to the Powderfinger & Jet concert here in Cairns. Then I (and a friend) went down to TVL for a few days and stayed with my cousin (Kat's bro) Jason and his GF Sinead for a few days and saw him ride a bull in a rodeo. He's been doing this all year but it's the first time i've actually been there to see it happen.

Oh yeah... Meg's hen's night had a trashy 80s dress theme :D right up my alley.
Sorry for the horribly set out post. Rushing :D

Recent Photos

This post is basically a catch-up of recent happenings around here... just the last month really!

Cruiser looking very proud of the mess he made tearing apart his old bed and cushion in our backyard yesterday. He is now 4 months old.

Yesterday I went on a bit of a garage sale mission "shabby storage solutions for my scrap room" was what I was looking for and these are the items I ended up buying....
I've stored all sortsa OTP albums and bits and pieces like cards from ATC swaps and albums full of recipe swaps, etc inside the big white toybox. I've set up a paint & ink station with all my stamping and painting goodies in this beauty I picked up... I will re-paint it white and PINK eventually to go with most other items in this room.

This photo is from a few weeks ago from the 2nd Birthday Party for my friend Amanda's little girl. This is a pic of Amanda, me, Katie and Karina at the party... all of us looking girly and framed by these beautiful balloons!

Here I am in my awesome spotty hat, sussing out the Port Douglas markets with Benny a few weeks ago.

And finally, this pic is from last weekend when we were just about to go into the TimeOUT Day in the Park music festival in Fogarty Park. We saw Gyroscope, Bliss n Eso, The Butterfly Effect, Art vs Science, Lisa Mitchell and a few other acts perform. Ohh and in case you are wondering, yes, I am dressed up as Where's Wally.

In the next month or so I have my cousin's 21st AND a friend's wedding AND the Powderfinger concert AND school holidays soooOOooo there should be quite a few updates from me with pics and eventually scrapping as well over the next month or two! :)

Show Time! No Scrapping but Stacks of Pics!

The show is in town!! The photo above is me at the Cairns show this afternooon posing with Croak Daddy who is the Regional Council's mascot for the "Dont Play in Pipes & Drains" campaign aimed at children who engage in this dangerous activity in our city's suburbs!

The pictures below are from the weekend when we went up the hill to the rodeo/show with the in-laws. These are just a handful of the stacks of pics I've taken in the last month or so. I really need to pull my finger out and get some photos printed so that I can do some more scrapping.
